In less than two decades the new world technology leader has surpassed countries such as the United States, Japan and Germany, opening a new cycle of Asian dominance in the field of innovation and high technology. Between 1978 and 1993, Chinese applicants filed only five PCT applications.
This new scenario in the field of intellectual property is a new milestone for the Chinese government and for the planning of a new knowledge-based economy, not only capable of being technologically self-sufficient, but also of being key in strategic sectors of global scope such as digital technologies, telecommunications or electronic components.
