Enforcement Database

The EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has launched the Enforcement Database (EDB), a tool that provides a direct channel of communication between IPR holders and customs and police authorities across the EU to prosecute counterfeiting.

This database contains information on products covered by an exclusive right, accessible in all Community languages. The system, among many other functionalities, generates alerts of potential infringements for the owner and the police or administrative authorities of the 28 member states, facilitates the location of the affected owners, allows for the processing of applications for customs action and, in short, speeds up the whole process of prosecuting infringements within the EU.

The initiative will improve the effective use of the ownership of patents, trademarks, designs or copyrights when enforcing these rights against piracy.
