Patent news: Jamaica, new member state of the PCT

On 10th November 2021, Jamaica adhered to the PCT Union, depositing its instrument of accession. The 10th February 2022 the PCT will enter into force in Jamaica, becoming the 154th Contracting State.

Consequently, from such date any inventor in Jamaica can file patent applications seeking patent protection in PCT member States. Also, foreign patent applicants will be able to protect its applications in Jamaica under PCT.
