Last Tuesday, November 20 2018, we celebrated the first Ponti IP Vitamins session with the title “Managing and protecting trademarks in the digital environment” in the mVentures space at Barcelona Tech City, in collaboration with the international consultancy Capgemini of the ICT sector.
With these practical and inspiring sessions led by reference companies and professionals, we want to provide the innovation ecosystem with knowledge and management tools related to intangible assets (trademarks, patents, designs, copyrights and industrial secrets).
Thus, in the session “Managing and protecting trademarks in the digital environment“, the role of trademarks was emphasized as a key vehicle to obtain differentiation in this context and to ensure the bond with the client throughout the sale process. Also discussed was how the registration of a distinctive and segmented brand (Minimum Viable Trademark) plays a fundamental role in the process of creating value while preserving the interests of investors, as well as the management of judicial and extrajudicial tools and mechanisms that can prevent or stop illicit uses of the trademark by third parties. Capgmini, a leading company in the technology consulting sector (8th in the Brand Finance ranking), was a paradigmatic example of how the brand becomes a digital platform for the communication of identity, capabilities and values towards customers and users and how its legal protection is part of a long-term corporate strategy for creating value.
