For the second consecutive year, PONTI & PARTNERS is part of the agenda of activities at the Barcelona Health Innovation Week, driven by Biocat, a flagship event in the life sciences and health sector.
This time, on Thursday, February 20, we will deliver an exclusive in-person workshop on a key topic for the research community: Scientific research and the use of patented products. When experimenting with a patented product constitutes an infringement, the exceptions that exist, and their limits.
During the session, we will address a recurring topic in scientific research, where the use and experimentation of patented products are essential to achieving new, relevant findings. Attendees will gain expert and practical insight on topics such as:
- Exceptions to the use of patented products, such as the Bolar Clause or the SPC Waiver.
- Understanding when one might be at risk of infringing a patent and how the exceptions that mitigate such infringements work.
- How these exceptions are crucial for advancing scientific research, providing a strategic advantage over competitors.
The session will be delivered by Rafael Moreno, European Patent Attorney and expert in the field of chemistry and biochemistry. It will take place at the Parc Científic de Barcelona (C/Baldiri Reixac, 4-12 and 15) and will last approximately 1.5 hours, from 12:30 AM to 13:45 PM. The presentation will be held in Spanish.
