Brands are one of the most important assets for wineries because they are the means by which wineries communicate, to customers and consumers in general, the quality, history and reputation of their wines and products. Brands and trademarks are therefore part of their identity and image and they are valuable business assets that help them differentiate themselves from other producers and wineries. Brands and trademarks are also a fundamental tool in the internationalization and export processes.
Brands and trademarks, especially in the beverage and food sectors, are particularly a sensitive element, as they may be associated with certain methods of obtaining the product or the geographical origin of the ingredients and / or final product, being essential to provide the consumer with the maximum information on the origin and quality of products and wines. Therefore, more and more restrictive legislation is being introduced in relation to the intersection between trademarks and designations of origin and geographical indications.
