Last 14 December 2018, the Spanish Council of Ministers approved the “Report on measures to fight against activities infringing Intellectual Property Rights”.
The report puts into context all the implications that counterfeiting generates in many aspects of our economic, fiscal, working, reputational or health and safety environment. To put just a few figures, it is observed that in Spain the impact continues to be more important than the EU average in relative terms, with more than 40,000 direct jobs or 15,000 million euros in tax revenues and social security contributions per year.
The Spanish Ministry of Industry and Trade is working on the National Plan to Fight Counterfeiting 2019-2020, which will address the problem in four areas: coordination between administrations, regulation, training and awareness-raising, and analysis of the situation.
